Sennen Parish Citizen of the Year Award
In 2022, Sennen Parish Council introduced a prize for the ‘Sennen Citizen of the Year’ and the ‘Sennen Young Citizen of the Year’.
The Citizen of the Year Awards are a celebration of the hard work our residents do to help one another. They recognise outstanding contributions to our community either through volunteering, fund raising or simply by being a good friend and neighbour.

Nominations are invited until 31st March 2025.
Proposals for previous winners and nominees will be accepted. Young Citizen of the Year nominees should be under 18 years at the time of the nomination.
Sennen Parish Council will consider all the submissions and declare the winners at the April Full Council Meeting. The awards will be presented at the Annual Parish Meeting in May.

Sennen Parish Citizens of the Year 2023-24
The Citizens of the Year Ceremony takes place at the Sennen Annual Parish Meeting in May each year. In 2024, Cornwall Councillor Brian Clemens had the honour of handing out the awards to the deserving winners.

Young Citizen of the Year Award 
Runner-up Sennen Young Citizen 2023-24
The Council was delighted that a joint award for the Sennen Citizens of the Year 2023-24 went to Lisa and Kevin Hannigan, who received seven joint nominations for their voluntary work in the Parish. Lisa and Kevin fund raise, help to organise parish celebration days, and a regular pub quiz. After lockdown, they set up the ‘Wednesday Souper’ a safe, warm space with free food, conversation and games. Kevin and Lisa still run the popular weekly event in Churchtown Hall, which is open to everyone, young and old.
The well-deserving winners were eager to share their recognition with the whole team of dedicated volunteers who keep Wednesday Souper running.
Finn Edwards was awarded Young Citizen of the Year 2023-24 by Councillor Clemens. Finn was nominated in recognition of his work at Sennen Karate Club, helping to keep this popular activity open to local youngsters.
A runner up certificate was also awarded to 9-year old Jonah Zagni-Wilson, who was nominated for his dedicated litter picking and work to protect local wildlife.
