Sennen Nature Action Group (SNAG) made the most of a beautiful morning on 22nd February to get a great deal of work done with a lot of chat and a bit of a picnic thrown in!
With the Sun making a very welcome appearance on Saturday, SNAG volunteers got to work tidying up the eastern end of the village. The aim of the morning was to prune the Hebe plants in the Sunny Corner verge rockery.
Willing and knowledgeable volunteers gave the plants a good hard cut to reveal agapanthus and other pretty lower growing plants to the sunshine.
The two youngest members of the group helped their Gran, Linda, spearhead the litter picking effort and three big sacks of litter were collected from the verges and hedges along the A30 before the brambles were tackled around the bus shelter (which was also cleared of rubbish).
In the meantime, the rest of the group decided to tackle the overgrown edge of the A30 pavement to reclaim the full width for pedestrians, buggies and wheelchairs. Back breaking stuff, but a very satisfying result!
A makeshift kitchen was set up on the bus stop bench (which is soon to be renovated by the Parish Council) with drinks and homemade cakes making for a refreshing, social break.
