Highways Update

In response to local feedback that highlighted road safety concerns, Sennen Parish Council applied for and secured a significant amount of funding from the Cornwall Council Community Network Highways Scheme and the “20 is Plenty” Fund to implement a traffic calming scheme in the village.

The scheme is being installed this week and we expect it to be in place by the end of the month and consists of:

  • Reduced speed limits of 20mph on Cove Road, Sunny Corner Lane, Maria’s Lane, Horizon Fields and Mayon Green Crescent (new signage and road markings).
  • New “gateway signs” clearly marking the entrances to the village and promoting careful driving.
  • Two new vehicular activated signs to promote lower driving speeds (providing four in total).
  • Variable speed limit signs along the stretch of the A30 by school which when lit legally reduce the speed limit to 20mph (07:30 – 09:30 and 14:45 – 15:45 Monday to Friday during school term time)

Once the scheme has been installed and checked by Cornwall Council Highways the speed limit changes will become legal.  We will announce this upon confirmation of completion.

Please see the attached map which shows the works being undertaken and speed limit changes.
